Walsh Duffield Named ADA Health Champion

(August 3, 2016) –   Walsh Duffield Companies, Inc. has achieved the Health Champion designation from the American Diabetes Association. This designation recognizes companies and organizations that inspire and encourage organizational well-being and is part of the Association’s Wellness Lives HereSM initiative.

“We are honored that our commitment to making the health and wellness of our employees a priority has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association. Our goal is to encourage the adoption of healthy habits which will benefit our team members, their families, and our company’s productivity and morale overall,” said Ted Walsh, President & COO of Walsh Duffield.

To qualify for the Health Champion Designation, a company or organization must meet the healthy living criteria in three areas:

  1. Nutrition and Weight Management: Walsh Duffield provides a generous subsidy for their vending machine, to ensure that making healthy choices is affordable and convenient. All items must meet certain nutritional criteria and items that are especially healthy are priced the lowest.
  2. Physical Activity: Walsh Duffield has 5 bikes onsite that employees can use throughout the day or even on weekends, with their families. We also have a free fitness center for employee use. Classes such as yoga and circuit training are offered throughout the year.
  1. Organizational Well-Being: Walsh Duffield produces an internal quarterly wellness newsletter with updates, recipes and healthy tips. We also have a walking meeting room with 4 treadmill desks. Employees can reserve the room for meetings or webinars and get some activity in while still working!
